I am a highly motivated and personable instructor who loves working with new students who are striving toward their music related goals. I'm currently 22 and although I’m working on my undergraduate degree which isn't related to music, I have several music related credits from Kellogg Community College for multiple instruments under my belt.
I have been self taught since I was 9 years old as well as playing for the church I attend for the past 10 years and have had private instruction for 2 years. I have also had the pleasure to play for multiple events across the state with a great number of other musicians! I'm currently in the process of learning how to write my own works and love talking or teaching music to all who are wanting to learn. I also assume that I'm fun to work with based on previous clientele and I hope to provide a fun, informative experience!
EXPERIENCE
In order to get a fundamental grasp on piano and musical ideas for my students that are children, I start them with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or whatever their school work is going through. After the student has progressed far enough or if they are older, I will begin mixing etudes and other standard pieces to give them a solid and well balanced education. This is in order to help develop their reading and technical skills. All of this is paired with the student’s musical aspirations and is altered depending on their goals.
I believe the ear also plays a crucial role in musical development, as it does with language, and I will work with the student to help develop their "ear" or ability to critically listen, breakdown, and replicate music based solely on their listening skills. This pairing of listening along with reading and technical skills is crucial for the student to achieve their current goals and will set them up for future goals.

LESSON STYLE
Everything within the course structure we follow is flexible to the student’s goals and passions. Just as every person learns differently, I believe it is most beneficial to alter the course per student to cater to: how fast they learn, how they learn, and also what inspires them the most. Setting realistic and achievable short term and long term goals in that endeavor is also something we will do every week. This helps the student see noticeable progress they are making, which then encourages them and sets the tone of lessons in a more hopeful and encouraging light. As an instructor, my goal is not only to inform the students of what they need to know but also to inspire and encourage them that they can actually achieve what they hope to. I want my students to leave their lessons more equipped, passionate, and confident in themselves and what they wish to do.
