BM, Mannes College of Music, Classical Guitar Performance (in progress)
2012 - Mannes College of Music Merit Scholarship
Masterclasses with reknowned guitarists such as Benjamin Verdery and Martha Masters
I'm an energetic instructor who loves teaching all things guitar! I'm in the process of completing my undergraduate degree in Classical Guitar Performance at Mannes College of Music and would love to share all that I've learned. Though classical is my academic focus, I also enjoy playing and composing rock, blues and electronic music.
My first teaching experience was in high school when I was asked to lead the school's rock band. From there, I started taking on private students and have enjoyed it ever since. My goal as a teacher is to show my students that they are capable of playing any music that inspires them. I keep things light and fun, while still stressing the importance of practice. I teach my students to understand what they are hearing and playing in the music they love.
I tailor each lesson to the individual students needs and goals. For younger children, I start with basic and fun pieces that they can pick up quickly and become excited about. As students get more comfortable on the instrument, I start to implement basic sight reading and music theory, always in the context of pieces or songs we are working on. I encourage my students to perform whenever possible, whether it be on stage or in their living room for their friends. I feel this is the best way to help students stay motivated and discover the music they connect to the most!
I keep my teaching positive and encouraging. I want my students to believe in themselves and their abilities, and feel confident progressing at their own pace. Together, we will set realistic goals that excite and motivate them to keep up their practicing. I'm inspired by my students every dayand make sure that their accomplishments are acknowledged and applauded.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
