I am passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I graduated from University of Hawaii with B.B. A. degree. I finished Diploma of Piano Performance in Associated Board of Royal School of Music, England. I have over 15 years of teaching experience. I teach classical as well as pop music. Most of my beginning level students are able to learn for long time. I prepared my students for piano examination and recitals. Also I have organized the piano competitions in my hometown in California.
I have over 15 years of teaching piano experience. I teach in my music studio. All my students have received good results from piano exams. I also have organized some piano competitions in my home town in California. I accompanied with violin students in exams and recitals. I also played for choir in church. I teach age 5 and above. My students grew with my teaching and entered in good college. They enjoy playing piano even after they grow up and I believe that will last for their whole life.
For beginners, my method is simple. To be able to read music is important to me. Therefore, I teach them to read notes, count, hand and finger positions. For advanced students, I will focus on teaching them to interpret a piece rather than copying from others. I will motivate the students to feel the piece so that they can play it easily and genuinely. Above all, all my students have to be able to read music fluently. Therefore, my teaching method is to ensure students to have good sight reading skills. I speak fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
My teaching style is flexible. For beginners, I will teach them all basic technic and reading skills. I believe in learning music by the ability of reading the music. Therefore, to have good reading skill is essential to all my students. Even if the students do not read music fluently, I will emphasize my teaching in improving them to read music. All my students will have good music sight reading eventually. For advanced students, I emphasize my teaching in improving their music perception. Dynamic and expression of a piece will become important focus in the lesson.
