I'm a motivated student tutor who loves working with students to help build a passion for Music. In 2023, I graduated from Gaffney High School, and am Currently a Student a Limestone University pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. Over the past couple years, I have performed in many difficult Jazz Ensembles, Wind Ensemble, Clinics and much more. Music for me started when I was young and in elementary school. I sang in an elementary chorus, then switched to Clarinet in 6th grade and have been playing since.
I have done some one on one help on Clarinet to teach some more advanced rhythms within the music. Students a pushed to excel and practice so there is never a growth gap in the musicianship of the student. Although students learn at different rates, since being a musician is skill, my goal is to help the student become the best version of themselves just like I had growing up. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and excel to make regional bands as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn.
For starting students, Start with learning how to blow air without the instrument. Once that has been achieved, the next step is to blow into the instruments mouthpiece and add pieces of the Clarinet as you go. Then we will move to learning note names and values, along with rests and some fingerings for the instrument. Then after that we will start learning key signatures and scales along with some very easy sight reading pieces, to get adjusted to reading music and moving fingers. Then we will advance and make each lesson harder to push you to be your best version of you.
I allow students to work at their own pace with a little bit of push with my help. Students motivation for music is a big deciding factor for how much we push and how quick, some learn faster than others. After we get a grasp on the concepts of music we will push a little quicker to grow into a great musician as quick as possible. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music!
