I am a passionate and patient instructor who loves sharing the gift of music. I am dedicated to equipping my students with the essential skills for success. I've studied with prominent private instructors and have attended prestigious schools and camps all over the nation. I have over 20 years experience with the violin and I still consider myself to be a student. I am able to play and teach various genres such as classical, hip-hop, country, jazz, and more. I have opened for major acts such as DMX and T-Pain.
I began teaching violin at 12 years old to kids in my neighborhood. I also taught my sister, so I gained experience at a very young age. As an adult, I became a private tutor under Piano Fortissimo in Atlanta, GA. I love to teach students of all ages from beginners to intermediate players. I believe that teaching a combination classical and modern music is the best way to keep a student excited and engaged. I also encourage my students to create original pieces in order to keep them motivated and accomplishing new goals.
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. If they are enrolled in a school, I will follow the method taught to them in school. I will work with the repertoire the student has received from said school. I also have a customized practice schedule that I create with my students which includes an accountability partner. For adults, I must discover what the student is interested in learning. No matter what level, beginner or intermediate, we can create a customized lesson plan that suits your needs.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. I like to have fun in my lessons.
