I'm a very humble and passionate instructor who believes in making lessons fun and informative. I started out playing drums at 12yrs old and then I made the transition to piano. During my time on the drums, I developed an ear for melodies and chords. I decided to take the time and practice and learn more on piano to develop my craft. I can say that all the hard work has paid off and given me opportunity to play for different recording artist and venues. Even now I still am in awe with how far I have come along.
My teaching experience started 7yrs ago doing part time lessons at church. I started teaching members of the church as well as musicians who wanted to learn certain songs. During those times of lessons, I encouraged each student to consistently practice at least 30min a day. I also tried to relate each lesson to a song of their choice to show them certain ways to apply basic theory. I'm determined to make each lesson a memorable experience that the student will have fun and be able to go home with excitement.
For children who are beginners, I start off with an introduction to basic theory. That will help me identify how fast they can catch on and also give me an idea of what ways to make lessons innovative. Also I will tie each lesson to a nursery rhyme so that it will be something they can remember. For teens and adults, I try to find out what genre of music or what is their favorite song. Once I find out, then I take that and utilize it in the lesson depending on skill level. Every lesson will always begin with different exercises.
Every opportunity I have to teach, I take it with great importance. Every student is a star student and no one (even me) is greater than the other. Patience is key and knowing that everyone learns at different pace. My goal is to make sure that each student will know the material and we will not move on to the next until you are comfortable. I love to make lessons fun and create an atmosphere that will entice the students to be eager to learn more. All lessons are tailor made to fit your desire, goals, and dreams.
