I'm a recent grad from Carson Newman University! My major was Music Education emphasis in Instrumental. I have been a musician since I was ten, performing in bands and learning piano before picking up percussion in middle school. I was part of Hume Fogg Academic School's Concert, Wind Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble, and I performed in Carson Newman University's Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussin Ensemble, and Jazz Ensemble. Music has always been a blessing to me, even through days where it seemed like I would struggle, and I want people to know that music can be a blessing to them as well.
I have no experience as a lead teacher, but as as a student teacher I have put in at least 240+ hours of teaching in two different school settings. I have also helped counsel and teach as an assistant in camp settings and group settings. .
Foundations for Superior Performance, Standards of Excellence, Essential Elements, and A Fresh Approach are great method books I start beginners-intermediate students on. They are also great reference materials to use for all ages and levels. Once we have developed the fundamentals, I start using harder material from professional musicians and solo material meant for performances.
My teaching style revolves around making the learning experience fun, challenging, and relate-able . I provide challenges that can makes the students strive to learn new and interesting music as well provide a since of accomplishment for that student and joy. By having these challenges, I help the student reach for newer heights and help develop a since of growth, not just in music, but in their lives as well.
