I received my Music and Jazz Performance degree from Whitworth University in 2006, and have since performed in many musical groups, including Jazz trios, Jazz Combos, and community symphonies.
I have taught music lessons for close to 15 years now, and simply love working with students at all levels of training. Music is fun, and it is truly rewarding to see students maximize their skills and further devolop their love for music.
Most of all, I believe that playing music should be fun! Additionally, I believe that every student has his/her own unique learning style. Music theory, ear training, sight-reading, and scales/chords/arpegios are always a necessary part of music development, however; I try to focus our lessons on the music that the student especially enjoys!
Besides establishing a foundation, I believe strongly in "Ear Training" which teaches musicians to process and cultivate music from within, rather than simply letting our fingers do all the work.
