Overview:
I am in my early 30s and have been playing guitar and singing since the age of 13. I have gotten my education in music through private lessons. Advancing my education at both Milwaukee Area Technical College (Associates Degree in Music Occupations) and Carroll University (Bachelors Degree in Music Business). I do not own a music studio. However, I offer my private guitar lessons where my students live. Is there a better environment learning music other than the comfort of their own home? Outside of my teaching, I am an active gigging musician in Southeastern WI. I've also toured and done shows in Illinois, Iowa and Indiana.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching dates back to my early career as a gigging musician. If there were to be a rehearsal before a show, I would show my bandmates how a certain song were to go. Eventually, I decided to do some private guitar teaching gigs besides making a living as a gigging musician. My first teaching gig was for one of my cousins whose son wanted to learn guitar. After a couple of lessons with him and he eventually lost interest in learning guitar. Soon afterwards, I found out about musika and their site was how I was able to find most of past experience into the teacher I am today.
METHODS USED

So far, I've taught some kids and adults.  I've learned that teaching kids versus teaching adult students is different. Each age group would require their own tasks. For instance, if I were to be teaching a kid who is maybe 10 years old, I would start off by introducing the notes on the instrument. Then, I would create games or exercises based on the new stuff we'd cover.  For an adult student, I wouldn't use any games on them.  I would find out from the adult student if there's something they already know about the instrument, then I'd go from there.  If they've never picked it up before, I'd start by explaining the notes and strings of the instrument before moving on to chords or easy songs.

LESSON STYLE

It would be very important for the student to have their own passion in music and the instrument they wish to play. Passion is the key to a successful music student. There would be commitments to make if a student wishes to learn private guitar lessons from me, such as making sure they are on time for their lesson.  I'm more than welcome to help the student find out what it is they want to learn if they're undecided.  By finding out what kind of music student is interested in, I would help keep the student motivated to learn and come back for more lessons.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
