Overview:
I'm an extremely passionate educator and performer with over 20 years playing experience and 17 years teaching experience. I have toured and recorded with national acts who's music was showcased and featured in major motion picture and video game soundtracks. Recently; I just recorded with the former original lead singer of "Toto": Bobby Kimball ("Africa", "Rosanna", "Hold the Line"). For the past 15 years, I have a built a reputation of instructing the best "up and coming" drummers in the area. Recently, my guitar program has created a huge buzz throughout the local communities as well. Hence, my impact on the local music scene has been a tremendous one. I'm educated in all styles of music, and my teaching program has been admired and awarded by producing students who now teach and perform professionally. In addition, I managed every music studio I taught at until I opened up my own where I managed and taught for 7 years before relocating to Las Vegas. I currently am now accepting new clients in Las Vegas for drums and guitar and seeking projects to work for (wedding bands, event or studio drummer).
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching at the age of 19 and within one year ended up teaching over 70 drummers weekly at four different locations in which I managed 2 of them. I then went on to open my own studio in 2007 to great success. Recently, desiring more musical adventures, I've decided to relocate to Las Vegas in search of more music opportunities in The Music Business. I have taught thousands of drummers and guitar players over the year and am looking forward to teaching thousands more! I hope to hear from you soon!
METHODS USED
Reading music is essential. To me musicians who don't know how to read music are like people who speak without undertsanding the meaning of the words they say. I also focus on ear training and understanding the instrument naturally, being that I feel its best for the player to have a mulititude of approaches to their understanding of their craft. Books I use in my methods are Carmine Appice Realistic Rock, Rockin Bass volumes 1 and 2, Mel Bay's Killer Fills, and Buddy Rich Snare Drum Rudiments.
LESSON STYLE
Luckily I was taught by not only very high skill level players, but also by charismatic individuals that were also very good educators. As an educator, my main focus is to emulate their masterful ways of teaching and incorporate that into my program. I use various methods: how to read music, hear music and create music. Ear training is super important to me as it allows the student to learn "feel". Reading notes is alos important to me because it allows the student to learn the technical side. Thus, allowing the player to have a hybrid of both approaches to there writing and learning.
