EXPERIENCE

With over 15 years of experience of teaching, I am confident in my ability. Throughout my career as a private Piano teacher and musician, I have achieved numerous successes. I have been teaching numerous talented students who have won Grand prizes in International Competitons and I have been recognized for my excellence in teaching by receiving award. I am known for my ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment for students. I have strong relationships with my students, and have received numerous positive reviews and referrals from past students and their parents. I am able to make my students feel comfortable expressing themselves in the process of learning the Piano. I also have experience in creating and delivering lesson plans, and utilizing different teaching methods to provide for diverse students. Furthermore as a chamber musician, I recently have held several concerts including missionary concert near Boston area with my Violinist. In addition I am also serving as a Pianist at Church Praise Team. I am excited about the opportunity to bring my skills and experience to the Groton Hill music center and am confident that my dedication and hard work will help the success of the school. I am committed to continuing my professional development and staying current with the latest techniques in teaching Piano.

METHODS USED

I typically use Piano Adventure or Little Mozart as a basis paring with other fun music materials depending on student’s age. Once the students reach a certain level, for example when they finish the level 3a of Piano Adventure, I start to add Hanon, Czerny, and Sonatina in turn, and prepare them to play in competition. For adult, I recommend choosing a repertoire they are might interested in, and I teach not only the fandamental of the piano plying but also guide how they can express. For both young and adult students, I give them an assignment that they need to practice until the next lesson, because students only make progress through their practice. I am known for my ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment for students.

LESSON STYLE

I tend to emphasize theory as well as playing when I’m teaching my students because learning music is more effective when supported by theory. Learning a musical indtrument requires a high level of concentration to learn and understand the music, and to memorize and perform it, so it can be helpful for students with other learnings or activities. Moreover the process of completing a piece is more difficult and time consuming than we think, but through this kind of practice, kids can develop their patience and discipline.
