I am passionate about teaching beginner level students of all ages, especially elementary school students! I start all of my students with basic technical skills, the finger chart, basic rhythm and major/minorscales. I have enjoyed many years of teaching and performing in community orchestras.
EXPERIENCE
I have played the flute for many years, and have instucted students for close to 16 years. Starting out with simple exercises and building upon a basic foundation are key. Students are encouraged to perform in recitals when they are ready. Young students new to the flute should be mature enough to stick to a regular schedule and practice at least 15-20 minutes a day. Music is a commitment, and can be compared to learning a new language! I look forward to working with your child who will quickly develop a love for this amazing woodwind instrument!
METHODS USED
Beginners: Finger chart, breathing exercises, tone, rudiments of music, and isometrics Schirmer's "Forty Little Pieces for Beginner Flutists" and "The Flute, basic exercises"
LESSON STYLE
Students will progress at their own pace, and will be given exercise assigments to practice weekly.
