Overview:

Hi there! I'm a vocalist and composer from Boston, MA and I've had the opportunity to travels around the world with my music. I began my undergrad studies in Jazz Performance at The University of North Texas and transferred to The Royal College of Music in Stockholm to graduate in 2017. Both of these renowned establishments had a hefty pedagogy curriculum. My passion is the music of the world, and I've sung on four different continents learning all different approaches and styles of music. I specialize in singing anything from Classical to Pop and can teach you the basics of piano and guitar. I also an award-winning songwriter, and can help you with compositions and arrangements. I've performed with big names such as Bobby McFerrin and Ben Folds, and in International Jazz Festivals, have performed with Symphony Orchestras and been cast as leads in Musical Theater Productions. What are you looking to learn? I'm here to share all of my experience!

EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching for about 10 years now. I've taught students one-on-one in studios in Texas and Sweden from beginner to advanced from five years old to 60! I've been a guest teacher at high schools and studios, teaching groups about improvisation, jazz expression, and songwriting. About a year ago, I returned to Boston and opened up a private studio where I've been teaching students on a weekly basis. I love to see my students grow and develop, and my proudest moments have been watching my students go on to study music at a collegiate level. It is my passion to keep my students passionate about their art!

METHODS USED

I always start my lessons with exercises to get my student in tune with the body, throughout the lesson we'll discuss how these beginning exercises apply to the pieces we're working on. My students are required to choose songs that make them happy but also challenge them each week. We'll access the technique as it applies to each student, as each student possesses a unique background and idea of how singing works! As a singer I know difficult it is to grasp the technical side of music without any muscle memory or visual reminders, so I always make sure to combine our creative lessons with a theoretical grounding. It's important to know what exactly is happening in the body and in the music so you don't have to think about it when you're expressing yourself in front of an audience.

LESSON STYLE

No matter what I'm teaching, my philosophy is that creativity is the most important aspect of music! Art should never seem like a chore, and we do it because it ultimately makes us happy! We practice and struggle because it's a labor of love. So, I always challenge my students to bring their own identity into the songs we practice, to bring emotion into the written notes, and to express themselves! At times it may be scary to open ourselves to our true self, but that's where our special talent and voices lay.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
