Overview:
I am a dedicated violin instructor who enjoys teaching and working with students so they can achieve their highest goals. I recently graduated from Andrews University in 2014 with a Master's of Arts degree in Violin. I enjoy not only performing as a soloist but I have played in both my undergraduate college orchestra as well as Andrews University Symphony Orchestra during my Master's study. I also played in the Brooklyn Conservatory Orchestra for three years and I also actively play in a string quartet.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching privately in 2006 after I graduated from college. I began teaching in my church in New York, to beginner students between the ages of 8 and 15. I continued teaching until 2010, when I began my Master's Degree. I found that by finding out similar interests between myself and the students outside of classical music made it enjoyable for them. I would also give my students a lot of encouragement and sometimes rewards for their hard and diligent work.
METHODS USED
For students that are just starting out, I use the Suzuki Method. This method includes initially learning by ear or listening, and learning to read notes later on. For children, parent involvement is also an essential aspect of the method, this allows the parent to be able to help their child during practice at home. I also focus on scales as one way to help improve technique using the Carl Flesch Scale Book for more advanced students.
LESSON STYLE
Lessons are different for each student because no two students are the same. I want all of my students to love their instrument and have a love of music in general. I work with each student at whatever pace they are comfortable with encouraging them along the way. My purpose for teaching is to share not only my love of music with others but to see students become accomplished and successful musicians.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
