Passionate and Accomplished Piano Teacher I am a dedicated and passionate piano teacher and performer with extensive training and experience. I have taught students of all ages and levels—from young beginners as young as four years old to college-level musicians and adults in retirement. My goal is to share my love of music and help each student develop confidence, creativity, and strong musical skills. With a background in classical piano performance and years of teaching experience, I tailor my lessons to meet the unique needs of each student. I create a positive, engaging learning environment where students can grow at their own pace and discover the joy of music. Whether preparing for an audition or playing for fun, I support and guide my students every step of the way.
My Teaching Experience: My teaching journey began during my college years, when I started giving private lessons to students of various ages and skill levels. Since then, I’ve taught consistently in my home studio, as well as in universities and private schools. I work with each student individually, tailoring my approach based on their personality, goals, and musical interests. For younger students, I emphasize the importance of regular practice and a consistent routine, which helps build both skill and a lifelong appreciation for the piano. I believe in balancing classical training with modern, engaging repertoire to keep lessons both educational and enjoyable. If a student isn’t having fun, I believe I’m not doing my job! My students are encouraged to participate in recitals, competitions, and even explore their creativity through composing original music. I aim to help them feel proud of their progress and stay motivated throughout their musical journey. I’m always excited to welcome new students of all ages and levels into my studio!
My Teaching Methods For young beginners, I typically use the Alfred or Faber method books to build a strong foundation in note reading, rhythm, technique, and musical expression. As students gain confidence and a solid grasp of the fundamentals, I begin introducing solo repertoire suitable for their first recital performance. I particularly enjoy using the Keith Snell series across all levels, as these books feature original piano compositions rather than simplified arrangements. They thoughtfully introduce students to authentic repertoire from the major historical periods—Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century—helping them develop both musical and historical understanding. I believe learning about music history alongside performance is not only enriching but essential in shaping a well-rounded musician. For adult students, my approach is highly personalized. I take time to learn about their musical interests and goals, and tailor lessons accordingly—whether they’re complete beginners or returning pianists. My goal is always to keep the learning process engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable at any age or level.
My Teaching Style Nothing is more rewarding to me than watching a student develop a genuine passion for music. I believe that every student should progress at their own pace, and I support this by setting clear, realistic goals during each lesson. Recognizing and celebrating each accomplishment—no matter how small—helps build confidence and motivates students to continue learning and improving. I take the time to understand what inspires each student, which allows me to personalize my teaching approach to suit their individual needs, interests, and learning styles. Whether a student is working toward a recital, learning for personal enjoyment, or exploring creative expression, I strive to make lessons both meaningful and motivating.
