Currently enrolled at Shepherd University School of Music.
I am a passionate and motivated musician and instructor. Love working with children who are starting to find their knack with music or want to be introduced to it! Currently enrolled at Shepherd University School of Music pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance with an emphasis of Percussion. I have been a part of all sorts of ensembles from Big Band to small combos as well as pits for theater. I have performed at The Apollo Theater within the orchestral pit as well at the university.
I have taught privately over the summer of 2014-2016 orchestral percussion and marching band. I am the current percussion director for Middletown High School. Along with that, over the summer I also teach the front ensemble for Washington High School. And am currently teaching front ensemble for Western Frederick Indoor Percussion. I love teaching any bit of percussion that I can, whether it is marching, orchestral, or drum set. I love seeing the joy people get playing music and percussion. I especially love when they come prepared to learn something new, even if it happens to be a bit of review.
For beginning students, I usually start with rudimental percussion grips and playing. I usually go off of Stick Control. Once the student has progressed further, I will judge how far along they are and customize they're learning abilities with their exercises and repertoire to learn. For adults, I try to find what genres they are interested and see how far along they are technique and music wise. I like to cater all of my teaching styles to each individual. I love to break down how people learn and finding books and repertoire that follow that.
My teaching style is very up beat and catered. I like to figure out what people are interested in and try to find ways for them to be able to follow their interests. I like to give small feedbacks when needed but also when they need a push in the correct direction, I will try to be honest and true to them. I love teaching from no experience to experienced. I Loe figuring out the passions of each individual student and figuring out how they will learn best or efficiently, hopefully both! Once I figure out how they learn, I love to dissect as much as I can to help in the smallest ways.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
