I was interested in teaching from a young age; I loved to play school with my friends. I started tutoring in high school, as well as teaching private flute lessons. I have taught private lessons since 2017 and have loved every moment of it, both with beginners and with more advanced high school students. I began working as a marching band technician in 2021 and have since worked for numerous schools. Spending time with these students of all ages and interests brings me great joy, and I know that further pursuance of music will bring the same fulfillment to students for years to come.

In lessons, I concentrate on fundamentals (breathing, tone, technique, tonguing, etc), as these are often shorted in the school classroom and will further enable the student long-term. I strive to make abstract concepts concrete by using actions and icons, especially for younger students. It is very important to me that I find out where the student is at so that I can meet them there and we can work together. If the student is in a music class in school or has other extracurricular goals, I love to help them work towards those goals and with any questions they have. I believe a big part of teaching is problem solving and critical thinking, so I encourage students to be highly involved in their learning.
