Overview:

Hi!

My name is Gian, and I would like to help you in your musical journey. As a music artist, producer, and educator, there are several ways I can help you achieve one, some, or all of your music objectives. In my professional experience I have the chance to collaborate as an independent musician in several musical projects, as well as produce my own tracks. In 2017, I collaborated as studio producer and featuring artist, along side Tercer Tipo, an independent hip-hop, acid jazz band from Santiago, Chile.

My formal training and music abilities have led me towards a versatile path in the understanding of music. I am passionate about world cultures, and like to incorporate the elements of ancestry and sound healing in my own work.

My role as composer sparked at an early age, when I first took the guitar and begun my first conscious and ever intuitive journey of channeling music and sound. In 2017, I was commissioned to score a full length modern dance production, choreographed and directed by Enrique Faundez, (Santiago, Chile).

EXPERIENCE

My teaching experience began when I was working on my Associate of Arts in music production and sound technology. Having been trained in music theory and classical guitar from the University of Chile for three years, by the time I started college, I was able to help many students. I mostly gave guitar and singing lessons, but also did tutoring in music theory. I have been teaching music ever since.

After graduating from UCCS, with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Music Composition and Sound Design, I have been adding more subjects to my teaching practice.

METHODS USED

I always begin with an informal conversation to get to know your interests and music goals are. Depending on the instrument and objective, I might follow traditional curriculum, such as Hal Leonard or Alfred Music.

In reality, every student has a different way to approach the music. My job as a teacher is finding out what makes you tick, and use that to cultivate your passion and develop a study practice.

If a student needs a more customized study plan, I have access to many resources and sheet music pdfs that can be used to support a more tailored music path.

LESSON STYLE

Nothing is more rewarding than helping students strengthen their passion for music. We all have a talent or two, and to develop as an artist, a student must understand it takes time, and knowing how to keep yourself motivated when something is challenging.

As a music teacher who's an active artist, song-writer, and educator, it becomes important to remind students to set kind, achievable goals. My style involves helping you keep track of your own progress, and realizing music is an ever expanding flow of sonic energy.
