My mission is to educate all people through music. I have been teaching private lessons since 2006. I attended Eastern New Mexico Univesity for 5 years majoring in music education and performance. I created a very successful jazz trio and highly trained in jazz performance and improvisation. I have toured nationally and internationally as a performer and educator.
I began teaching K - 6th graders in 2006. All students were very successful and acheived their goals through a series of lessons. I attended numerous workshops on performance and private lesson instruction. I have been to masterclasses with both jazz and classical professionals. I currently take lessons with a classical and jazz professional. I have helped high schools and boys and girls clubs in my community with private lessons. Music is a very creative art. I believe in making music lessons fun - it is the best way to keep students interested. I teach everyone the ability to teach themselves.
I typically use their assigned studied book by their school. If there is not an assigned study book, I like to use the Standards of Excellence series of books. I teach very strong basic fundamentals. All methods/instruction will be applied to the students music.
I encourage students always warm-up, practice and perform. I use many examples with other activities such as sports, daily life, etc...I believe music has the ability to change ones life for the best, from having a clear mind, to being prepared and making positive decisions. Goals are very important, I set each student up for success. No one fails in my lessons, every lesson is a good one and can be learned from. My instructions are very clear and simple. My lessons are very articulate and productive in any time frame.
