I am originally from the Charleston area and grew up in Summerville. I have been performing practically my whole life and feel as though I was raised on the stage. I absolutely adore helping anyone learn music in a unique and creative way that is suited specifically for them. I am young, however I believe that is what helps set me apart from other instructors as it helps me to connect with my students. Some of my teaching experiences include Trident Technical College, Black Tie Music Academy, and Taylor Robinson Music Lessons.
I have been a teacher for about five years, when I first began helping teach lessons at my local school. I was then brought on as a part time teachers assistant for Trident Technical College and their summer camps. While working for Trident, an instructor from Black Tie Music Academy took interest in me and I soon began working with them in their private studio. Ever since, I have been teaching music lessons of various instruments and styles and continue to learn with my students. I look forward to bringing on new students of all ages!
During the first lesson, I always get to know the student a little to understand what style best fits their needs and talents. Once I have established that, I immediately dive in to teaching creative custom lessons made specifically for them! For example, my younger students have always enjoyed learning about how to make sound waves through making their own instruments with everyday household items. With my older students, they have seemed to be overjoyed with learning how to write their own songs and make their own start in the musical world. I make it a point to keep the lessons engaging, no matter their skill level, or any disabilities they may have.
I do not find anything as rewarding as when a student first sees the progress they have made. When they have a passion for music, it definitely shows through their work and dedication. I constantly encourage my students to have their dreams set high, but also realize that their dream might be different than they first pictured. I also make it clear that my students need to have someone as a support system, someone who will encourage their goals as much as I do. I can make anyone who puts forth the effort become successful with my personally tailored instruction through these ways.
