Overview:
Carlos studied Percussion at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes of Mexico, Cultural Institute of Panamá, Republic of Panamá. as well with world known percussionist like Alex Acuña, Endel Dueño, Jesús Alfonso Miró (Musical Director of Los Muñequitos de Matanzas), Lamim Thiam, and more. With his explosive soloing and inventive conga patterns, Carlos is widely acclaimed as a grate percussionist. He is committed to the development of the conga drum, breaking down traditional percussion barriers to perform traditional latin rhythms, jazz, jungle, funk and hip-hop whilst retaining his distinctly latin roots. As a live and session performer, he played with various international artists including Willie Colón, Eugenia León, Oswaldo Ayala, Elizabeth Mesa (Judge of Latin American Idol), Paquito D'Rivera (multiple Grammy Award-winner), Enrique Nery, and more. His musical journey is a personal quest to explore and create new sounds and rhythmic fusions. More than just a performer, he further demonstrate his commitment to the development of his instrument by working as an educator at the Universidad Cristóbal Colón and The Universidad Veracruzana in Mexico, The San Antonio College, Palo Alto College and North West Vista College in the United States and Oldenburg Universität in Germany.

METHODS USED
The Orff Aproach  One on One online lessons Due to CV19 I am adapting new techniques that i have developed on my own experience. There is a constant latency during live streamed lessons and that's why accommodating new ways to approach the listening/Play are so important. I try my best to give my students the space where they can feel comfortable enough to open themselves to new routines. With classes being one on one, my focus is to gather the student's attention and help them learn conceptual points in order to move forward.
LESSON STYLE
I am a strong believer of practice makes perfect. A creative method for practice is always necessary, using multiple tools live links to videos, links to audio and sharing my own playing videos on my website. I have collected a wide variety of elements that i commonly incorporate to my lessons. Assignments as practicing a song, listening and recording a video while playing along. Transcribing a solo, Creating a new original piece and also learning as extra some of the basics of hand percussion for certain assignments. Many other tools to be determined.
