I am a recording and performing artist as well as a critically acclaimed composer contracted with the prestigious record company. I have three albums released so far under my own leadership and I am also a voting member of the Recording Academy. Although my main expertise is Jazz Piano and Improvisation, I have a professional experience of nearly 20 years on both playing and teaching almost every genre from Classical to Jazz including more contemporary styles such as Pop, Rock and R&B. I am passionate about teaching as much as I enjoy performing and composing. Being a very meticulous person in my work, I see teaching as one of my essential tools of personal growth and self realization.
With over 15 years of teaching experience with amateurs, music students and professionals of all ages, levels and instruments; I aim to combine my creative career of performing, composing and recording to guide you in your unique gifts and goals. My teaching experience include an assistantship period at Istanbul Bilgi University under Prof. Donovan Mixon’s Ear Training and Ensemble Classes, followed by private teaching and lecturing devoted to amateurs and professionals of all age groups and skill levels. I also have a three year experience of choir coaching at the renowned Bogazici University in Istanbul. Holding a BA in Music Performance from Istanbul Bilgi University, I teach piano, music theory, composition and ear training in addition to ensemble classes in three languages including; English, French and Turkish. Therefore I’d love to work with you to help you become the best musician you can be in terms of depth, creativity and originality by gaining both technique and a strong sense of Musical Aesthetics.
I welcome all levels of amateurs, music students and professionals to my classes. Being a renowned pianist and recording artist, I also offer music theory, jazz harmony, composition, arranging and ear training lessons for private and class studies. Not only the pianists but all different instrument groups can easily take advantage from my study program. With kids, I generally prefer to start with easier songs that they usually enjoy listening or singing instead of a rigid classical method. Popular songs are a good starting point. So if in time we see an increasing interest in learning more about the piano and music, then of course I proceed to some more disciplined methods always encouraging the student to be creative while absorbing the basics of piano technique and a solid musical foundation.
I think I have a gift to share my knowledge and experience with people who need to walk through the same path I'm on. Whether you are an amateur or professional I'd be glad to help you find your way. Teaching is a two way process for me and I experienced many times during all these years that both parts learn and grow with a dedicated heart. Instead of a rigid methodical study lacking practical knowledge, I provide a highly interactive vivid approach according to the individual's needs, taste and goals.
