Overview:
In 2013, I graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, with a focus in Choral/General Education. Throughout college I actively performed in various types of ensembles such as contemporary acapella groups and small chamber ensembles, including solo performances.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching private lessons 5 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in their homes for the last year. I have been consistently teaching students in their home for the past year. Home lessons are wonderful because I feel students are more comfortable in their own environment. I am starting my third year as a music educator with Loudoun County Public Schools, where I am currently the the music teacher at Cardinal Ridge Elementary school.
METHODS USED
For beginning students I stress the importance of reading music, so I heavily work on their rhythmic and melodic vocabulary. I am not set on a particular methods book because I am a firm believer that all students learn differently and some methods work better for some than others. I like to be adaptive in my teaching and mold my lessons to fit the needs of each individual student.
LESSON STYLE
Regular practice is essential for all developing musicians as it tends to produce continuous musical growth and passion for their instrument. With both voice and piano, I like to combine both classical and modern music because it lies a solid foundation, while also keeping students engaged and having fun.
