BM, Wuhan Conservatory Of Music, Piano Performance
Overview:
I have passionately studied the pedagogy of Piano teaching from an early age. Throughout my many years of teaching experience I have developed an elite level of patience and the ability to adapt to a students specific musical passions, level of playing, and musical desires, all while implementing a strong foundation of western harmony. This includes fundamental knowledge of scales, etudes, counterpoint, and practicing skills. My goal is to provide a solid foundation for students which enables them to embark on their musical journey with a highly technical and strong fundamental base. For me the greatest thing possible I can share with a pupil is to enhance their ability to teach themselves and draw upon their fundamental techniques in which I have provided them.
EXPERIENCE
I have had over 7 years of teaching experience. In addition have maintained a studio of 30 plus students weekly throughout this time. My students have ranged from advanced to beginning and consist of all ages. It’s is through these experiences, my own love and passion for music, and helping others achieve their musical objectives that I have gained a high level of adaptability, catering to the students musical desires, while implementing a strong and solid technical foundation. A few examples of my experience include having overseen and operated a musical educational center, leading a company’s teacher recruitment placement program, as well as published my own teaching method book series.
METHODS USED
The program and method books which I pick for students depend on the age, style of Music, and time in which the student will allocate for their Piano studies. With that said, for beginning children I tend to use the Faber, Bastien, and Frances Clark’s method series. When working with younger children I firmly believe in the importance of the parents participation in the pursuit of their children’s musical progress and tend to inform parents on their kids weekly goals. For adult beginners I find the Faber and Alfred “all in one” are two methods that have proven to be excellent. For classical payers I use a combination of scale, etude, and hand picked standard classical repertoire. I believe it is imperative to provide a student with a variety of essential practice techniques which will enable them to have a clear path for musical success throughout their practice sessions.
LESSON STYLE
I receive a great sense of satisfaction and fulfillment through teaching Music to people. I have worked incredibly hard at shaping my own musical style and nothing makes me happier than to share my experience with others in a way that molds their own musical style. I like to uphold a structured progression in lessons yet having fun and helping the student learn the style of music which drew them to the Piano. While being optimistic I tend to encourage a strong respect and discipline towards the art of music and piano studies. I look forward to working with you and helping you along on your musical journey!
