Bachelors in Music (2013) - Concentration in Piano and Voice
Royal Conservatory Theory Exams completed with First Class Honours
First Class Honours from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Theory
Hello! I am a music instructor who loves to develop students passion and creativity in music. I graduated in 2013 from Geneva College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a concentration in piano and voice. Along with teaching I enjoy performing in many different venues and accompanying many different groups. Some of my highlights include playing for weddings, singing with the Pittsburgh Symphony and accompanying several choirs. Some of my most recent work has included writing music for a published artist as well as starting my own studio.
My teaching experience has included a wide variety of skill levels, ages and focuses and instruments. Ive been teaching piano for ten plus years and voice for six. With my younger students I focus on creating a solid musical foundation for them through a variety of activities while my more advanced students are instructed in a more in depth study focusing on their specific talent, expanding their passion and creating confidence in their abilities. Each student is given a personalized lesson and the structure will be tailored to their specific needs. Im always looking for new students to share my passion and excitement of music with! I welcome students of all ages and levels!
Each student will be provided with lessons tailored to them specifically. No book or method fits everyone and I enjoy being able to work with each student or group based on their needs, interests and skill set. This not only breaks things down to their level, it makes them excited as they learn more and experience music they enjoy as well as try new things. I make lessons fun and enjoyable to each student and let them have input in their study so that it is fun no matter what their ability level is.
Each student is given a folder or binder to keep their charts, lesson assignments and sheet music in. This not only makes their lesson based on their needs and abilities but also helps them see how they have reached their goals and stay motivated and excited as they work through their music. I am very passionate about keeping things personal, open communication with students/parents and a positive lesson experience. I love working with students of all ages and skill levels and this helps me confidently offer lessons to anyone!
