ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

2017 - Cum Laude

Overview:
I'm a guitar player, composer, and private instructor currently based in Los Angeles with a love for playing and teaching. I graduated from Berklee College of Music in the spring of 2017 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition & Production. With more than 10 years of professional experience, I have worked on dozens of studio session and touring gigs, performing in a wide variety of music styles. Most recently, I played a nation-wide tour with Cirque Musica, a Cirque du Soleil style production that had me play as the electric guitarist in the pit of an orchestra.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching while at college, where I taught private lessons part-time in between classes and on weekends. Since moving to Los Angeles, I have been teaching several students through local music schools, as well as through online video lessons. I've also developed an online presence with social media, where i've been regularly uploading clips of my playing, and teaching those concepts to followers through transcription and in-depth analysis of my concepts and methods.I enjoy teaching students the things that inspire them the most to practice, whether it be a new guitar concept or even just learning a song they love! All my students come from varying disciplines, from those who just wish to play for fun and leisure, to serious students who yearn for long term professional goals in music.
METHODS USED
My teaching methods are always tailored to each individual student. With that said, for beginning and/or younger students, I typically start with the fundamentals of the guitar/piano, and begin the initial development of dexterity by reinforcing the fundamentals through teaching songs that the student picks themselves. As the student's ability progresses, I then start relating those primal concepts to the foundation of more advanced concepts that soon give the student the freedom to play whatever they want, however they want. For adults and/or more advanced students, I start by gauging the students current level of ability, and blending it with any particular areas that the student is interested in developing. In effect, this keeps the lessons engaging and fun at all levels of playing ability!
LESSON STYLE
My goal is always to discover what it is that inspires the student to play and have fun doing it, as I believe this is the ultimate motivator for consistent practice and development. That is why I often start by asking the student first if there is anything in particular they want or need to learn, whether it's a song from a movie, video game, or popular radio hit. Once the student reaches the prerequisite level of ability to learn whatever they choose, I let them pick whatever song they'd like to learn. I believe that the instructor should be the servant of the student, and it is my job to make sure that the student always leaves each lesson feeling motivated to continue their music adventures, and to come back each week with a yearning for more!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
