Overview:
I am a dedicated, hard working musician who is here to pass on all the knowledge I have to my students, in order to help them become the best they can be, regardless of what their musical tastes are! I have a degree in Jazz Performance from CSU Northidge, where I had the wonderful opportunity to study and perform with some of the world's finest musicians. I began drums at a young age, and began taking them seriously in highschool. I know what it likes to be new at something, as I am constantly challenging myself to new things. Being a musician who never stops learning, I feel I can relate to students very well and help them be successful and learn lots about playing drums (and have fun doing it, of course!). I have a private studio with 2 professional level drumsets, as well as all the equipment necessary to make your learning experience the best it can be.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching formally in higschool, and such have over eight years experience as a private teacher. My methods focus both on the essential fundamentals necessary for success in any genre or style, as well as focusing on what the students wants to achieve. Providing my students with the inspiration that has driven me, I use many techniques to keep students motivated and help them develop an intrinsic desire to improve. Music is fun, and music lessons should be fun, which is why I will do all I can to help make sure that the student is enjoying themselves and enjoying learning music. Playing a wide range of styles and genres professionally, I can use my wealth of experience to help students learn as much as possible.
METHODS USED
I create all my own lesson plans based on what the students are looking to achieve. I use multiple books that are a part of the drum standard teaching repertoire, and teach them in a way individual to the student that is sure to help them reach their goals. Beginners and advanced students alike, I aim my teaching towards technique, musicality and well-roundedness on the instrument. Additionally, I have devised my own worksheets of varying levels of difficulty, which I use and modify to help each student reach their individual goals.
LESSON STYLE
I approach teaching in many ways, all of which depend on the student. The common thread amongst my multiple approaches is INSPIRING MY STUDENTS! If I can inspire my students to be successfull and driven the way that my teachers have inspired me, I feel that is a big accomplishment. Students will have their own individual lesson book with all the things that they are working on, updated weekly. If I can inspire them to love music and instill in them the hunger for learning that my teachers inspired in me, I can guarantee they will be complete the tasks I give them and growing at a rapid pace.
