BA, Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, Music Education/Trumpet
Music is my passion, it's my life and I want to share it with you! Music is an universal language and I invite you to discover it step by step. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and specialization in trumpet. As a professional musician, I've traveled all over the world performing for different artists! from the Carnegie Hall in NYC to the O2 Arena in London, every performance is unique and I cherish them deeply. I am also a studio musician and have arranged and recorded for 5 Grammy Award winning albums and have worked with a variety of artists in different genres.
I'm currently a trumpet player in Cirque Du Soleil's show LUZIA. I began teaching while I was in college, I taught trumpet, music theory and piano. Shortly after that I was able to start my own studio where I taught privately and was also a teacher at a music institute. I encourage all my students to practice and tackle the difficulties in a fun creative way. Each student is different and I always try to find the best ways to make a lesson fun and productive with each individual. It doesn't matter if it's classical music or jazz, it is MUSIC and it's the language that I love to teach at first, the rest comes with practice and dedication.
The methods I use vary depending on the students ability and level. Hal Leonard's beginner's method for piano is one that I use for students starting piano at an elemental level. I also use Hal Leonard's essential element's method for beginner trumpet students. These methods work very well for elemental and intermediate levels. They also work for adults starting to learn how to play the instrument. I also use other methods such as the Arban's Trumpet method which covers everything from beginners to advanced levels. I ultimately have the goal of making the lesson interactive and fun.
I set a few personal goals when teaching students of any level, some of those are for the student to develop a love and passion for music and him or her instrument. Also to inspire them by participating with them in the lesson and making every lesson different and fun. I also like to reward my students when they accomplish goals such as successfully playing lessons or learning scales by memory, etc. Each student should have a personal individual learning experience tailored to them, this will help them achieve the goals faster and in a much effective way.
