Bachelor Degree: Northeastern University, Associate Degree: Miami Dade Honors College
Overview:
I have been playing the violin since I was 4 years old. Throughout high school and college, I performed in orchestras and took part in events such as the Take a Stand Music Festival in Los Angeles, where I performed at the Disney Concert Hall. I also performed at Carnegie Hall as part of a high school classical music festival. I studied music at Miami Dade College and later focused on music business at Northeastern University in Boston. While in Boston, I performed with the Film Scoring Orchestra at Berklee College of Music, which gave me experience in film and contemporary music alongside classical training. Alongside performing, I teach violin online to students ranging from age 4 to adults.
EXPERIENCE
I have 10 years of teaching experience, which started when I began tutoring students during high school. Since then, I have worked with beginners through upper intermediate students across a wide age range. I focus on helping students build consistent progress and confidence in their playing. I adapt lessons based on each student’s goals, whether they are learning for personal interest, general skill development, or performance preparation. My background in mental health coaching influences how I approach teaching. I focus on maintaining a supportive learning environment and reducing pressure, especially for younger students who may feel overwhelmed.
METHODS USED
My lessons follow a structured format. We usually start with a warm-up, review previous material, and then move into new concepts and repertoire. This helps reinforce learning while building new skills step by step. For beginners, especially children, I use Suzuki books to build foundational technique. I also include modern and familiar pieces such as pop or film music when appropriate to keep students engaged. For adult students, I adjust lessons based on their goals. Some focus on casual learning while others work toward specific performance objectives. Lessons are adapted to match their needs and pace.
LESSON STYLE
My teaching style is structured, supportive, and adaptable. I focus on building strong fundamentals while also making sure students understand why they are learning something, not just how to play it. Lessons are organized so students always have clear goals, but I adjust the pace depending on each student. Some need more repetition and time to build confidence, while others are ready to move faster once they understand the material. I work on core technical areas like posture, bow control, intonation, and rhythm, and I always connect technique to real pieces so students can apply what they are learning in music right away. I also focus on consistency and realistic goals. Instead of overwhelming students, I break concepts into smaller, manageable steps so they can progress steadily and build confidence over time. Since I teach both children and adults, I adjust my communication style as well. With younger students, I keep things simple and engaging. With adults, I take a more direct and collaborative approach based on their goals.
