Overview:
I am a creative, caring and VERY passionate music teacher. I am currently working on my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Production at the Los Angeles Film School. I have toured all throughout southern California and performed in two different countries, four different states, and over forty-five cities. I am closely involved with my local music scene and play anywhere from three to ten gigs a month! I love to write my own music while also studying a variety of genres. I am always looking for something new that is exciting and challenging to play! Let's make some awesome music together!
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching for a little over four years. I have experience teaching students as young as four years old up to the age of eighty-two! I also have a great deal of experience working with and teaching developmentally disabled adults as well as children. I welcome any and all students who are eager to learn music! I emphasize student goals and meeting students needs. I understand that not every student learns the same way and I tailor each lesson to work for my student. I welcome all types of learners!
METHODS USED
Depending on the starting skill level of the student, I tend to tailor my methods to meet the particular needs of every student. I like to start off with a few basic fundamentals and techniques such as getting started with some basic common chords, and scales. I think this is the key to building my students confidence and competency with their instruments. Once you have the basics down I like to allow my students to choose which songs they'd like to have in their solo repertoire. I love to help my students conquer their favorite tunes in ways that make it easy to tackle.
LESSON STYLE
Each individual student has their own thoughts, goals, and aspirations. Each individual student also learns in a completely different way than the next. I ensure that my students have exactly what they need from me in each lesson. I cater my teaching methods to each student. I typically start my lessons with five to ten minutes of warms ups to get the students hands and minds working and ready to take on the next task. Then, we will review whatever it is that we went over in our last lesson to ensure the student has a complete understanding of what he or she learned last, and finally, we dive into the new material. I always pace my lessons dependant on how fast my students are learning and how comfortable they are feeling with their instrument. I always close out my lessons by opening up the floor to my students so that I can answer any questions they might have.

Allison works with my 7-year-old son who is on the Autism spectrum. She is very patient and understanding of all of my son's needs. She has a great way of explaining musical concepts in a way that makes sense to him. Love her.

Allison is such a great teacher! I felt so comfortable with her and she was so polite and her approach was perfect! I immediately signed up for more lessons. I left the lesson feeling so much more knowledgeable on the ukulele. I’m so excited to learn more from her.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
