I am a passionate performer who loves expressing through my instrument! I have been playing bass for upwards of eleven years. I have been performing professionally for the past four years. I have been fortunate enough to experience multiple musical situations and accomplish many of my musical dreams. Music affects so many different aspects of our lives. Not only as musicians, but also as listeners. It is this reason that I am more than excited to share my musical knowledge and help guide you to your musical successes as well!
My teaching experience began at a young age. As I was learning music I also had to teach my younger sister. I taught her choral music and gave vocal lessons all through grade school. Around the time I went to college I began teaching her about music theory and musical concepts. Additionally while in college, I would give my classmates bass lessons. Most of the students I taught while in college were complete bass beginners. I had a fun time teaching my peers the information I knew on the bass on some excelled quickly! I have been teaching ever since then with ages and musical knowledge ranging the complete spectrum.
I like to teach bass slow and thoroughly. I find that building a foundation of understanding and competence before moving on the to next subject helps progress later. I strive to keep the lessons and bass fun by not placing a heavy workload and stenous practice regiments in the beginning. Rather I hope the student practices more than I request in the beginning and as stamina, knowledge, and interest compound also compound the workload. Despite all of this I still push the student for and insist on consistent and efficient practice!
Teaching brings a pleasure unlike performing. With teaching I have the pleasure of seeing a student grow. I enjoy catering and tweaking my lesson plans and approaches to how each student learns. I enjoy seeing a student discover new things and accomplish tasks they didn’t think they could accomplish. I am have a part in the direct nurturing of the next wave of musicians and artists and in that I find much happiness. Music affects more than just the mind. The effect music cannot be quantified or predicted which is why training and learning and nurturing those interested is very important.
