I haven't received any awards but I have worked with many music legends including Stanely Jordan, David "Fathead" Newman, Papa John DeFrancesco, Frank Marocco, Randy Tico, Marshall Hawkins, Casey Abrams, Rachel Flowers, Coco Montoya, Doug Webb and Jimmy Vivino
Overview:
I have been playing drums CONSISTENTLY for over 25 years, almost every day. I went to college for jazz performance at ASU for a long time but never graduated. My first professional, performance job was at age 17 and I have never looked back now at 36 years old. Working with many legendary musicians has been a highlight for me.
EXPERIENCE
I have taught private lessons for over 10 years and in this time have learned a lot about finding what we should stick to and what to let go of. We get into music because we love it. We all love different kinds of music, so I like to keep the focus on what kind of music the student is interested in. Long term goals are good but I tend to stick a lot closer to the next immediate step. I do this by asking questions rather than dictating the same style of teaching to each student.
METHODS USED
In the first lesson I will take the time to find out what kind of music you are interested in playing. At that point, I will offer exercises and grooves for you to work on in that genre, as well as other fundamentals for the building blocks of the foundation of music you will be able to play. We can also find certain songs that you might be interested in playing and work on grooves/fills for said songs in addition to the Two Sound Level Technique broken down by David Garibaldi (Tower of Power) http://books.google.com/books/about/Future_Sounds.html?id=3V9xJIMYfxEC. I specialize in Funk, Latin, Fusion, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, R+B and Soul.
LESSON STYLE
We will pick up right where you left off but this time with more affective application. Practice makes permanent in any field of study, especially when said field involves a lot of motor skills (sports, music, etc). With that being a prime focus, we will concentrate on how to use our practice time most efficiently. You will learn things faster by practicing slower and more accurately.
