When I teach, I always make sure that I present new concepts and ideas in a digestible way. I also make sure my student and I are always on the same page with their goals and their playing. If my students don't understand something or feel like they're in over their head, I don't rush them to figure it out. Backtracking is always seen as a positive thing. My style is to understand the needs of the student first and only then decide how to approach our lessons. Everybody needs to go at a different pace and not all students need the same things. I like to see my students become proficient sax players but I feel that the job is only complete when they become good musicians.
