I had a successful private studio from 2003 until 2008. My students ranged in ages from beginners to seniors in high school. Then I began teaching formally in schools in 2008 until 2017 where I taught middle and high school orchestra and choir and also elementary music. I began my professional career in 1992 when I successfully auditioned for the U.S. Marine Band program. I served for four years before I began my teaching experience. Since 1996, I have taught students in private settings in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Lubbock. I also spent some time teaching in the small public school system in West Texas. I do not emphasize recitals or perfection. If the student wants a professor type teaching then please pay hundreds of dollars for a teacher. I expect my students to practice and show effort in their learning. Musika has a recital at the end of the year, I do not require it. I can have a student recital at my house if necessary. Music has been one of my passions since I was a little girl! I took up piano at age 8, violin at 13, and drums at 15. I've been known to belt out a tune here and there, too! There is nothing better than having an afternoon to lose yourself to creating and playing music. In high school, I was Concert Master of the Philharmonic Orchestra. I've had the opportunity to perform on the drums at various venues and was invited by my drum instructor to return to the studio to become an instructor myself, where I taught for three years.
