For beginning students who are children, I typically start with either Music for Little Mozarts Series or Piano Adventure Series with essential music theory related piano. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoires appropriate for their performance levels. I tend to keep the learning environment focused and relaxed simultaneously. We have our goal for the lesson set, we work towards that goal, we evaluate, and then we go over what the student needs to work on for next week while I make suggestions on how to do that. The private lessons began with the local music store and when I finished their courses they led me to john sutton for lessons ,he played for the buffalo philharmonic. For each lesson, I begin with a 5 to 10 minute warmup before moving on to the student's assigned music.  I like to alternate between actual performance/practicing, and teaching concepts including music theory.  I also wrap-up every lesson by spending 5 minutes in review with the student, going over what they need to practice in the coming week ahead.
