Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

It is important that student does not lose his interest of playing an instrument. Therefore, I set some tasks for them that they can reach it. Once they see their progress, it inspires them to do more. Also, explaining a new material, I use a playful format, especially with kids who are hardly focused on the material. I have been teaching private lessons for around 3 years, with experience teaching in all aspects of percussion, including drumset, marching percussion and concert percussion. I teach both virtually and in person either at my home studio in Cedar Rapids or in Ames when I'm at college. I believe that a combination of all the various styles of percussion is the best way to get a full grasp of drumming, however if you have specific interests I will do my best to focus on those when possible in the lessons. I began giving lessons in my undergraduate studies at the University of Iowa to beginner to intermediate horn, trumpet, and piano students. Encouraging the musical growth of young students was something I not only enjoy doing, but loved watching the results of. This will depend on the level of the student and if they are in a band program in a school currently. I want to teach lessons as a supplement to what a student is learning in school, so I will work with the music and method book they already have. If the student is not in a band program, I would recommend starting with the Essential Elements band method. We will start with reading music, basic tone production, and good practice skills.
