Depending on my student's age and skill level I usually have them begin with Suzuki books, Essential Elements books, or a combination of the two. As students advance I often incorporate etudes and/or exercises by Lee, Dotzauer, Galamian, Mooney, Sevcik, Duport, and Popper. Originally from Thailand, I have performed in various professional and festival ensembles including around the world, including Akron Symphony Orchestra, Siam Philharmonic Orchestra, Bangkok Opera and Philharmonic Winds (Singapore). I was a member of Spoleto Festival USA in 2016 and 2017, and, in 2015, I participated in Aspen Music Festival. I have earned honors and awards such as Winner of Concerto Competition at Texas Christian University, Cleveland State University, Winner of Rangsit University Solo Trombone Competition, and finalist American Trombone Workshop Division III Bass Trombone Solo Competition in 2015 and 2016. Speaking from experience, a student learns best at their own pace. With private music lessons, it is a lot easier to identify what skills a student is good and as well as what needs to be worked on. When working with a new student, I like to hear what they have, so that way I can determine what I need to work on with said student. Because in order for a teacher to be as effective as can be for the student, they must get to know the student as a player and see what they already know so that the student is properly challenged and not bored or frustrated.
