Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I studied percussion under Dr. Koontz at Eastern Kentucky University, where I learned to play all sorts of different styles ranging from classical to global. I performed with Eastern Kentucky University's percussion ensemble on various instruments ranging from vibes to marimba, concert snare, and even pan. Soon after, I auditioned for a World Class Indoor Percussion ensemble in Lexington, Kentucky, where I grew exponentially under the tutelage of world-famous instructors such as Nick Angelis and Zach Schlicher. Though music theory and the abstract concepts of tonal harmony are wonderful tools to help broaden the spectrum of ones creativity, they are not what make a musician a good musician. I'm passionate about encouraging students to be self-motivated in their pursuit of music. In 2013 I graduated from The Florida State University with my Masters in Music Composition and Theory. I have had the opportunity to write and perform original compositions for solo guitar and various ensembles utilizing the guitar, as well as various chamber ensembles and symphonies. While teaching at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, I have had the opportunity to work with a number of undergraduate and graduate students on guitar, with genres ranging from contemporary worship music to jazz, bassa nova, and solo fingerpicking styles. My style largely depends on the student and his/her needs and interests. I enjoy using rewards-based encouragement, especially for younger students. The rewards I give are always musical and I usually let the student choose. For example, one of the rewards for consistent practice, learning songs, and listening to recordings is the opportunity to write a parody song.
