Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. For younger students I start with showcasing what they can achieve with practice and perseverance. I do that by showing my playing. Then we start with the chromatic scale so the fingers can get use to the strings and moving around the fretboard. Same with drums but we start with easy hits and patterns. My methods are based on what I have personally tried and proven to be beneficial. The three main methods I find to be extremely important are the Arban book, and the Clarke technical and characteristic studies. In addition, I've found equally important the Earl Irons long tone and flexibility exercises. I like to find out what the student is most interested in a tailor the practice regiment accordingly.
