I have been teaching for more than 40 years. I began teaching private lesson in my home town, Baltimore, Maryland. I teach alto, saprano, and tenor saxophone, flute , piccolo, EWI, and piano. I also teach improvisation, music theory and ear training. I am experienced playing and teaching all genres of music from the age of 3 to 100. I have been in Dallas for 20 years. For beginner students who are children, I usually start with the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has advanced to where I can see that they have a good grasp of the fundamentals of the instrument, that is typically when I begin to introduce solo repertoire and supplement with my own material. Allison is a flutist from Miami, FL, who has been playing since she was 9 years old. A graduate from University Miami with several scholarships, as well as finishing up her Master's under scholarship from University of North Texas, she has studied with some of the top instructors in the country. Her primary teachers are Trudy Kane, Mary Karen Clardy. She just recently finished a Teaching Fellowship at UNT, where she was responsible for teaching undergraduate non-performance majors (music ed and pre-music) and jazz saxophonists how to double on the flute.
