I began teaching private flute lessons in 1988. I continued my flute studio and became a band director in 2000, and taught band in North and South Carolina until 2014. I now reside in Keller, Texas and have opened my flute studio to online students and the Keller/Fort Worth area. Both of my degrees were in music education, although I did start a second masters degree in jazz studies. Since 1981, I've been teaching in several settings. I have universal expectations for all my students, especially for practicing and lesson structure. However, I know that each person will have a different way of learning that works best for them, and so I choose the approach that will help each student excel. I choose techniques and repertoire based on a student's current abilities and progress and what I think best suits his or her tastes.
