I began teaching students out of my home several years ago and taught for about 3 years until I moved and my students were not able to continue with me. I feel it is very important to have proper hand position and the proper way to play the instrument and initially spend time making sure these very basic foundations are correct, but have creative ways to help the students so they learn quickly and enjoy it as well! The most important thing for me when it comes to teaching is knowing that my student is progressing but also enjoying their experience overall, another very important factor is overall retention of the information. Leaving high school I was asked to come back once a week to have group lessons and 1 on 1 lessons with middle and high school students.
