Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. After years of performing I finally decided it was my true passion and began studying it in college. I graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a B.A. in Music (proficiency in Voice) in 2002 and continued studying until I graduated in 2006 with an M.A. in Music (proficiency in Voice) in 2006. I originally began teaching while in college teaching students on both flute and oboe. I began teaching students out of my home several years ago and taught for about 3 years until I moved and my students were not able to continue with me. I feel it is very important to have proper hand position and the proper way to play the instrument and initially spend time making sure these very basic foundations are correct, but have creative ways to help the students so they learn quickly and enjoy it as well! The most important thing for me when it comes to teaching is knowing that my student is progressing but also enjoying their experience overall, another very important factor is overall retention of the information. I have been teaching flute since high school. My high school was also a middle school and I would teach the beginners. Leaving high school I was asked to come back once a week to have group lessons and 1 on 1 lessons with middle and high school students. An adult trying to learn how top play the blues or approaching the saxophone as a hobby will feel frustrated if the teacher has him doing only technique exercises for two years.
