I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from UC Santa Barbara, and a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach. For all ages I like to begin with a skills test. Where they show me where they currently stand with their instrument. From there I refer to books by Trevor Wye to give students a strong fundamental basis in tone, technique, articulation, intonation/vibrato, and breathing/scales. From there the lessons would be tailored to where the student wants to go with their learning.
