My teaching style allows students to make music from the beginning, helping to motivate them with attractive songs, which can be used as technique building exercises. I encourage my students to practice and set goals at each lesson. They would be able to work at their own pace. Playing duets with the teacher is also a fun activity, and listening to good players recordings will inspire them. I also encourage my students to prepare themselves for playing recitals, enter competitions and play with bands or music ensembles. Read More

I believe that everyone has the ability to learn and enjoy music. Each person does that in their own way and their own speed. I believe in setting goals based on each student's skill level and understanding. I believe that hard work will show reward and I always expect each student to put into the music what they want to get from it. I want every student to see the beauty of music and so I encourage all my students to explore all areas of music and find what inspires and moves them. Read More

I am a devoted lifelong musician who loves nothing more than sharing the joy of music with others. Growing up, I played trombone, euphonium, and tuba with my school bands. In my college and professional career, I have become proficient on all band instruments. I especially enjoy trumpet, horn, flute, clarinet, EWI (electronic wind instrument), electric bass, and percussion. My home studio is state of the art and has quite a lot of instruments! Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start out with Rubank Elementary Method for flute or piccolo. For very young students who have never read music, I would begin with flute posture on a special Suzuki flute if the student is smaller framed. Blowing and embeshure is of utmost importance the first few weeks and I will have students practice blowing into a bottle and only the head joint of their flutes. Read More
