Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Instruments: Flute, Piccolo
For beginning students, I typically start with the Rubank Elementary Method for Flute. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for a first recital program. For intermediate to advanced students, I try to find out what the student is interested in, what they have previously worked on, and what their goals are musically. I like to focus on fundamentals such as extended scales in various patterns, etudes geared towards development of a specific technical aspect, and solo repertoire containing these fundamentals. I have been teaching for more than 40 years. I began teaching private lesson in my home town, Baltimore, Maryland. I teach alto, saprano, and tenor saxophone, flute , piccolo, EWI, and piano. I also teach improvisation, music theory and ear training. I am experienced playing and teaching all genres of music from the age of 3 to 100. I have been in Dallas for 20 years. I typically begin my young students in the Suzuki Method for Flute, inwhich I have received the training for this method. For older students, I begin them in the Trvor Wye Method for Beginning Flute Students. I supplement both these methods with solos appropriate for their level and goals, such as UIL and other competitions. My main goal is to equip my students with the tools necessary to achieve their own personal goals in music. The better the student becomes, in the most efficient manner, the more they will enjoy all music has to offer. I use both published materials as well as exercises I develop myself to individualize instruction. I not only stress the fundamentals of playing technique but try to add a historical context to what is being learned, styles of music over the years, some understanding of music theory and the like. I believe in the philosophy of and empty cup. My lessons are not built for me to tell the student what to do, but rather learn how they learn and research the best practices for reaching that student. There is no "cookie cutter" method that works for all students, because everyone learns and comprehends a little bit differently. I remain sensitive to that and patient with my students.
