I thoroughly believe in teaching each student with a unique approach, one that caters both to their learning style and how comfortable they are playing in front of others. I am careful to choose the appropriate music for each age. if there is a child, for me is very important the relationship with the parents, because they know a lot of goals from the child. I also firmly believe that once it is apparent that there's nothing else I can teach you, I will recommend you study from a more advanced instructor. Again, analyzing some music together that the student is interested in is part of the process. Music theory will be discussed! Theory will not dominate the conversation unless the student shows a high interest for this. Some basic theory as it related to chords, chord progressions, scales, and music in general will certainly be beneficial. I will say, if you are wanting to learn how to "shred" like Eddie Van Halen or some of the hard rock/metal guys, I won't be much help unless a music theory discussion is needed. Read More
