Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Though I have strongly sharpened my skills and can adapt to almost any learning style, I continue to research and experiment and find different ways to adapt to my students. I studied percussion under Dr. Koontz at Eastern Kentucky University, where I learned to play all sorts of different styles ranging from classical to global. I performed with Eastern Kentucky University's percussion ensemble on various instruments ranging from vibes to marimba, concert snare, and even pan. Soon after, I auditioned for a World Class Indoor Percussion ensemble in Lexington, Kentucky, where I grew exponentially under the tutelage of world-famous instructors such as Nick Angelis and Zach Schlicher. I began teaching drums and percussion around my senior year of high school (1999). For guitar/bass guitar, I began teaching sometime in 2009. I feel very fortunate regarding my teaching experiences. In the beginning and still today, I tend to spark a musical interest in people through performance -- and just as often -- conversation. I've been playing drums and percussion professionally for about 20 years. I've taught private lessons; I've instructed high school drum lines and percussion ensembles. Being an Army musician, I've had the opportunity to play for soldiers and civilians in the US and abroad. Currently I play drums for the band As You Were, which is the Army's musical outreach team. The band does require that I spend some time on the road, but as a drummer I can teach lessons remotely from a hotel room. Read More
