My main goal and teaching is to inspire self motivation and make it fun! I like to pick songs that are fun to play and challenging at the same time depending on what level you are at that time. By doing this I think keeping the instrument out and not in the closet is a good start that way if the inspiration hits you and you want to play it is within your reach "guitar stand and wall hangers are ideal" and not in the case the put away " Out of sight out of mind" I suggest buying a music stand for your instruments and or wall hangers which seem to work very well as a display and also so the instrument is within your reach. I am very much letting the student take the lessons at their own pace and not rushing them through anything. My methods include a interview process where I get to know the student's goals and desires. Sometimes this includes learning a certain piece of music or style of music or interest to jam with friends as a hobby. When I can get a sense of their goals it helps me design a course fit for your student's learning interest. We begin with a theory review of basics and then follow a ear training test to see if the student can identify changing pitches and rhythm tests. Read More

When meeting a student, I want to find their "currency". Meaning, I want to find what makes them want to work and practice. There is nothing more rewarding than working for a goal and accomplishing it. I like finding music that my student wants to learn and making a music theory lesson that compliments the instrument lesson. I would ideally like my job with my students to be temporary. What I mean by that is to fill them up with all the knowledge and skills that they will be able to pick up their instrument(s) and sight read a piece or learn a piece without my help. Read More
