Music is a big part of my life. I started playing trumpet in the fifth grade and eventually went to the University of Toledo where I received my bachelor and masters in music education. I have been a band director for thirteen years and have much experience starting students on all instruments. Students are encouraged to experiment with their instruments and to pursue their favorite musical styles. My experiences teaching a wide. I have been a camp counselor at Interlochen Fine Arts Camp and through Western Michigan's Program. While at college and a few years after graduating I taught private music lessons maintaining a weekly student load of 10 -15. I have taken some time off in the few years and in that time have done assisted living with adults with developmental disorders and mental illness. The past 5 winters I have also taught Ski lessons. For beginners we will take it slow but hard work is always needed. I can teach you everything that I know,but it’s up to the student to take in what’s going on and work hard to get down fundamentals . Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
