Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

My experiences in a wide range of musical settings energize my goal to develop the interest, enjoyment, and personal achievement of each student through consistent application of fundamentals. I understand each student has their own unique personality and talent to offer. I will work with you to bring that out.

My beginning band students normally use the method book titled "Accent on Achievement" by Alfred Publishing. I fnd the book non intimidating and it moves the child at the appropriate pace.

Teaching Methods: I believe that a mix of styles is important for any musician, but I also believe in meeting the students where their needs are. Without understanding the musician, there is a disconnect in teaching. I care about my students as individuals. Above all, I want my students to care about the music, know that I care for them and their success, and to find enjoyment! My lessons are unique because instead of having a one-size-fits-all session, I tailor to the student. Part of my teaching philosophy is that above all a student needs to be valued as a person before being coached as a musician. Music is empowering, and my desire is for a student not to feel discouraged, but confident.
Teaching Styles: As a people-oriented person, I want my students to feel encouraged after each lesson. Through my experiences with many teachers, I have discovered it is easier to learn from someone who is affirming and inspiring. I love to see the light in students' eyes when they understand something new, and I strive to show them that their effort is well worth it so they can have confidence and joy through music. I also believe in educating students on how to recognize strengths and areas needing improvement themselves, to empower them in their own practice.

Whatever the ultimate goal you the student may have (auditions, All-State, or simply learning for fun) I believe that the most rewarding and effective way to learn, is through a holistic teaching method. So, while I will work to develop effective practice methods to ensure a consistent technical development on the saxophone, I also strive to bring awareness to broader musical issues of interpretation, aural development and performance skills. I see myself as a model to my students, and take an interactive approach to my lessons in playing for and with my students.

It is important to me that each of my students learns to love their instrument. But, even more than the love of their instrument, is the importance of knowing and understanding one's instrument. I offer positive reinforcement, encouraging my student in realistic goals. I acknowledge accomplishments that help fuel my student's desires to progress. However, I do not hide from the fact that pursuing music is a discipline. A well structured and commited practice time offers the best benefits. There is no greater reward than to be able to play what your heart desires.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
