I love teaching, and I do so with both encouragement and humor. I realize that not everyone can is able or willing to practice six hours a day, so I work with each student individually to find their pace. I am happy teaching both competitive students (I have had several students participate successfully in the ABRSM exams) and students who play purely for enjoyment. I have been teaching clarinet and piano since 2019. For each student, I focus on developing healthy practice habits (physically mentally) that allow them to be efficient and rewarded by their time spent with the instrument. I help students build a strong foundation of fundamentals so they are able to be successful working on more advanced literature. My teaching experience includes serving as a middle school band director, high school band director, middle school choir director, high school choir director, elementary school general music and choir teacher, and elementary school clarinet teacher. The youngest student I've ever taught was six years old, and I'm happy to work with children, adolescents, and adults. During undergrad in college, I also worked the music theory tutoring lab giving theory lessons to college students, so if a high school student is studying music theory, I would be able to assist with that as well.
