Isaac B

Instruments: Clarinet

For beginning students, whether they are children or adults, I begin instruction with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements book for Clarinet. Once they have made their way through that book, I move onto the Rubank Beginner or Intermediate Method book, depending on how they have progressed. Around this time, I introduce my younger students to solo repertoire for clarinet. For adult students, I try to gauge their interest and instruct accordingly, whether they are performing in their church or community band, or simply playing for pleasure. Read More

Lansing D

Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Euphonium

Finding the starting place for any student is important, regardless of age. As a child of an adult learner who took lessons in guitar and voice, I understand the distinction between adult and younger learners. The pacing, goal setting and choice of materials and resources is important to keep interest and spark inspiration to practice and maintain growth. I strive to make sure each person gets an experience crafted and prepared for them through gauging interests, setting realistic goals and being aware of what kind fo time commitment they have to meet their goals. Tim K

Instruments: Piano, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet

I love to see others excel in their unique gifts! I began piano as a little boy, but was discouraged from music lessons due to the teaching program. As I became older, I went from recorder, to saxophones, to improvisation, to piano, to singing, to flute, to basic wind instruments, eventually playing/composing/recording/touring with several of the most well-known of bands in the Southeastern Wisconsin area on vocals, saxophones, flute, and piano, as well as studying music at Carroll College. Brandon K

Instruments: Piano, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet

My instruction experience dates back to my time in high school, as I started instructing private lessons part time 11 years ago, and have been regularly teaching in my home studio throughout that time. Creating a consistent practice schedule is one of the ideas I like to emphasize for younger students, as it will be more likely to benefit student development, and help them grow a passion for the instrument. I have also discovered that a mixture of classical and jazz music can go a long way in helping students like the saxophone and influence them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
